A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in urllib3 up to 1.22. Affected is an unknown code of the component Authorization HTTP Header Handler. urllib3 before version 1.23 does not remove the Authorization HTTP header when following a cross-origin redirect (i.e., a redirect that differs in host, port, or scheme). This can allow for credentials in the Authorization header to be exposed to unintended hosts or transmitted in cleartext.
The bug was discovered 12/11/2018. The weakness was released 12/11/2018 (Website). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2018-20060 since 12/11/2018. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
