A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in SuSE Repository Mirroring Tool up to 1.1.1. The YaST2 RMT module for configuring the SUSE Repository Mirroring Tool (RMT) before 1.1.2 exposed MySQL database passwords on process commandline, allowing local attackers to access or corrupt the RMT database.
The bug was discovered 12/25/2018. The weakness was released 12/26/2018 as Bug 1117602 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.suse.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-17957 since 10/03/2018. The attack needs to be approached locally. A simple authentication is required for exploitation.
