Google V8, as used in Google Chrome before 34.0.1847.116, does not properly implement lazy deoptimization, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) or possibly have unspecified other impact via crafted JavaScript code, as demonstrated by improper handling of a heap allocation of a number outside the Small Integer (aka smi) range.
The weakness was shared 04/08/2014 by Christian Holler (Cloudfuzzer) with Google as Stable Channel Update as confirmed release notes (Website). The advisory is shared at googlechromereleases.blogspot.dk. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-1721 since 01/29/2014. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
