A vulnerability was found in Ceph up to 13.2.4. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Debug Logging. Ceph does not properly sanitize encryption keys in debug logging for v4 auth. This results in the leaking of encryption key information in log files via plaintext. Versions up to v13.2.4 are vulnerable.
The bug was discovered 01/25/2019. The weakness was presented 01/28/2019 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-16889 since 09/11/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
