A vulnerability has been found in Netscape Enterprise 3.63 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file servlet/SnoopServlet of the component SnoopServlet. servlet/SnoopServlet (a servlet installed by default) in Netscape Enterprise 3.63 has reflected XSS via an arbitrary parameter=[XSS] in the query string. A remote unauthenticated attacker could potentially exploit this vulnerability to supply malicious HTML or JavaScript code to a vulnerable web application, which is then reflected back to the victim and executed by the web browser. NOTE: this product is discontinued.
The bug was discovered 11/12/2018. The weakness was published 01/31/2019 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-18940 since 11/05/2018. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
