In Vignette Content Management version 6, it is possible to gain remote access to administrator privileges by discovering the admin password in the vgn/ccb/user/mgmt/user/edit/0,1628,0,00.html?uid=admin HTML source code, and then creating a privileged user account. NOTE: this product is discontinued.
The bug was discovered 11/12/2018. The weakness was released 01/31/2019 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-18941 since 11/05/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1552 for this issue.
