A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Poppler 0.74.0 (Document Reader Software). Affected is the function ImageStream::getLine of the file Stream.cc. The manipulation as part of a PDF File leads to a out-of-bounds write vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-787. A heap-based buffer underwrite exists in ImageStream::getLine() located at Stream.cc in Poppler 0.74.0 that can (for example) be triggered by sending a crafted PDF file to the pdfimages binary. It allows an attacker to cause Denial of Service (Segmentation fault) or possibly have unspecified other impact.
The bug was discovered 02/26/2019. The weakness was disclosed 02/26/2019 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2019-9200 since 02/26/2019. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
