A vulnerability has been found in Cisco TelePresence TC and TE (Unified Communication Software) and classified as critical. Buffer overflow in Cisco TelePresence TC Software 4.x and 5.x and TE Software 4.x and 6.0 allows local users to gain privileges by leveraging improper handling of the u-boot compiler flag for internal executable files, aka Bug ID CSCub67693.

The weakness was released 04/30/2014 with Cisco as cisco-sa-20140430-tcte as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at tools.cisco.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-2172 since 02/25/2014. Local access is required to approach this attack. The successful exploitation needs a single authentication.
