The weakness was released 03/14/2019 with Vmware as NEW: VMSA-2019-0002 - VMware Workstation update addresses elevation of privilege issues. as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2019-5512 since 01/07/2019. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
