A vulnerability has been found in CUJO Smart Firewall (Firewall Software) (affected version not known) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file dhcpd.conf of the component Verified Boot Protection. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-77. An exploitable vulnerability exists in the verified boot protection of the CUJO Smart Firewall. It is possible to add arbitrary shell commands into the dhcpd.conf file, that persist across reboots and firmware updates, and thus allow for executing unverified commands. To trigger this vulnerability, a local attacker needs to be able to write into /config/dhcpd.conf.
The bug was discovered 03/19/2019. The weakness was published 03/21/2019. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-3969 since 01/02/2018. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.
