A vulnerability was found in Google Chrome 34.0.1847.131 (Web Browser). It has been rated as critical. Use-after-free vulnerability in the FrameSelection::updateAppearance function in core/editing/FrameSelection.cpp in Blink, as used in Google Chrome before 34.0.1847.137, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact by leveraging improper RenderObject handling.
The weakness was released 05/13/2014 by cloudfuzzer as Stable Channel Update, May 2014 as confirmed release notes (Blog). It is possible to read the advisory at googlechromereleases.blogspot.ch. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-1742 since 01/29/2014. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
