A vulnerability has been found in Mozilla Firefox up to 53.0.3 (Web Browser) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function graphite2::GlyphCache::Loader::read_glyph of the component Graphite2 Library. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The bug was discovered 06/13/2017. The weakness was presented 04/15/2019 as MFSA 2017-15 as confirmed security advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-7777 since 04/12/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 9 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
