The Meeting Server in IBM Sametime 8.x through 8.5.2.1 and 9.x through 9.0.0.1 does not send the HSTS Strict-Transport-Security header, which makes it easier for man-in-the-middle attackers to hijack sessions or obtain sensitive information by leveraging the presence of HTTP requests.
The weakness was released 05/21/2014 as swg21671201 / 1671201 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at www-01.ibm.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2013-3046 since 04/12/2013. The attack needs to approached within the local network. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
Applying the patch #1673224 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at www-01.ibm.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
