A vulnerability was found in OpenProject up to 8.3.1 (Project Management Software). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component Activities API. The manipulation of the argument id as part of a Parameter leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. A SQL injection vulnerability in the activities API in OpenProject before 8.3.2 allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the id parameter. The attack can be performed unauthenticated if OpenProject is configured not to require authentication for API access.
The bug was discovered 04/17/2019. The weakness was released 05/13/2019 as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2019-11600 since 04/30/2019. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
