A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in D-Link DGL-5500, DHP-1565, DIR-652, DIR-835 and DIR-855L 1.02b18 (Router Operating System). This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file /tools_admin.asp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cleartext storage vulnerability. The weakness was shared 05/22/2014 by Kyle Lovett as File 126779 as not defined advisory (Packetstorm). The advisory is available at packetstormsecurity.com. Authentication can be bypassed to gain access to the file tools_admin.asp, which stores the devices admin password in plain text, by adding a "/" to the end of the URL.
A public exploit has been developed by Kyle Lovett in HTTP GET Request and been published 4 days after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 32 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
