A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7.2 (Application Server Software). This affects some unknown functionality of the component Picketlink. The manipulation of the argument xinclude as part of a SAMLresponse leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. It was found that Picketlink as shipped with Jboss Enterprise Application Platform 7.2 would accept an xinclude parameter in SAMLresponse XML. An attacker could use this flaw to send a URL to achieve cross-site scripting or possibly conduct further attacks.
The weakness was published 06/12/2019 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2019-3873 since 01/03/2019. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. A authentication is required for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 237284 (Red Hat Update for Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7.2.2 on RHEL 8 (RHSA-2019:1421)).
