A vulnerability was found in Undertow web server before 2.0.21. An information exposure of plain text credentials through log files because Connectors.executeRootHandler:402 logs the HttpServerExchange object at ERROR level using UndertowLogger.REQUEST_LOGGER.undertowRequestFailed(t, exchange)
The weakness was disclosed 06/12/2019 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2019-3888 since 01/03/2019. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1552 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 237284 (Red Hat Update for Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7.2.2 on RHEL 8 (RHSA-2019:1421)).
