Details
A vulnerability was found in Exiv2 up to 0.27.1 (Image Processing Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function CiffDirectory::readDirectory of the component CRW File Handler. The manipulation as part of a Image File leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A CiffDirectory::readDirectory integer overflow and out-of-bounds read in Exiv2 through 0.27.1 allows an attacker to cause a denial of service (SIGSEGV) via a crafted CRW image file.
The weakness was published 06/30/2019 (Website). The advisory is shared at lists.fedoraproject.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2019-13110 since 06/30/2019.
