A heap-based buffer over-read in xiph_PackHeaders() in modules/demux/xiph.h in VideoLAN VLC media player 3.0.7.1 allows remote attackers to trigger a heap-based buffer over-read via a crafted .ogg file.
The weakness was released 08/29/2019 as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2019-14438 since 07/29/2019. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
