This issue affects some unknown processing of the file demux/caf.c of the component CAF File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a divide by zero vulnerability. A divide-by-zero error exists in the Control function of demux/caf.c in VideoLAN VLC media player 3.0.7.1. As a result, an FPE can be triggered via a crafted CAF file.
The weakness was disclosed 08/29/2019 as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2019-14498 since 08/01/2019. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
