Details
A vulnerability was found in IBM WebSphere Application Server up to 6.0 (Application Server Software). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component HTTP Error Message Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Cross-site scripting vulnerability in IBM WebSphere 3.02 and 3.5 FP2 allows remote attackers to execute Javascript by inserting the Javascript into (1) a request for a .JSP file, or (2) a request to the webapp/examples/ directory, which inserts the Javascript into an error page.
