Citrix Program Neighborhood Agent for Win32 8.00.24737 and earlier and MetaFrame Presentation Server client for WinCE before 8.33 allows remote servers to create arbitrary shortcuts on the client via a full UNC path in the AppInStartmenu directive.
The bug was discovered 11/23/2004. The weakness was disclosed 04/22/2005 by Patrik Karlsson (Agent) with Citrix (Website). The advisory is shared at support.citrix.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2004-1077 since 11/29/2004. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
