Details
A vulnerability was found in Xorux Lpar2RRD and Stor2RRD (version unknown) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the component Upgrade Package Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
An issue was discovered in Xorux Lpar2RRD 6.11 and Stor2RRD 2.61, as distributed in Xorux 2.41. They do not correctly verify the integrity of an upgrade package before processing it. As a result, official upgrade packages can be modified to inject an arbitrary Bash script that will be executed by the underlying system. It is possible to achieve this by modifying the values in the files.SUM file (which are used for integrity control) and injecting malicious code into the upgrade.sh file.
The weakness was shared 11/17/2019. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2019-19041 since 11/17/2019. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation requires a simple authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
