Xsession in Red Hat Linux 6.1 and earlier can allow local users with restricted accounts to bypass execution of the .xsession file by starting kde, gnome or anotherlevel from kdm.
The issue has been introduced in 10/04/1999. The weakness was presented 10/07/1999 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-1999-1347. The exploitation appears to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
