A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Pacman up to 5.1. Affected is the function apply_deltas in the library lib/libalpm/sync.c. pacman before 5.2 is vulnerable to arbitrary command injection in lib/libalpm/sync.c in the apply_deltas() function. This can be exploited when unsigned databases are used. To exploit the vulnerability, the user must enable the non-default delta feature and retrieve an attacker-controlled crafted database and delta file.
The weakness was released 02/24/2020. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2019-18183 since 10/17/2019. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
