A vulnerability has been found in OpenLDAP up to 2.4.49 (Directory Service Software) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file filter.c of the component slapd. The manipulation as part of a Expression leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. In filter.c in slapd in OpenLDAP before 2.4.50, LDAP search filters with nested boolean expressions can result in denial of service (daemon crash).
The weakness was shared 04/28/2020 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is available at git.openldap.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2020-12243 since 04/24/2020.
