A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Samba up to 4.10.16/4.11.10/4.12.3 (File Transfer Software). This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component NetBIOS over TCPIP Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. A flaw was found in all Samba versions before 4.10.17, before 4.11.11 and before 4.12.4 in the way it processed NetBios over TCP/IP. This flaw allows a remote attacker could to cause the Samba server to consume excessive CPU use, resulting in a denial of service. This highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability.
The weakness was presented 07/07/2020 as Bug 1849491 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2020-10745 since 03/20/2020. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
