A function in Internet Explorer 4.x and 5.x does not properly verify the domain of a frame within a browser window, which allows a remote attacker to read client files, aka a variant of the "Frame Domain Verification" vulnerability.
The weakness was published 10/20/2000 by Carlos Garcia Cuartango with Microsoft as MS00-055 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2000-0768. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
