A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in CA ARCserve Backup 6.62 (Backup Software). This issue affects an unknown code block of the file agent.cfg of the component Temp File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. uagentsetup in ARCServeIT Client Agent 6.62 does not properly check for the existence or ownership of a temporary file which is moved to the agent.cfg configuration file, which allows local users to execute arbitrary commands by modifying the temporary file before it is moved.
The weakness was presented 10/20/2000 by FIRST with Shell (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2000-0781.
