A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox up to 1.0.4 (Web Browser). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component Output Handler. The browser user interface in Firefox before 1.0.5, Mozilla before 1.7.9, and Netscape 8.0.2 and 7.2 does not properly distinguish between user-generated events and untrusted synthetic events, which makes it easier for remote attackers to perform dangerous actions that normally could only be performed manually by the user.
The weakness was released 07/13/2005 by Omar Khan, Jochen, shutdown and Matthew Mastracci (moz_bug_r_a4) with Secunia as MFSA2005-45 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at mozilla.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-2260 since 07/13/2005. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
