A vulnerability has been found in AVEVA Enterprise Data Management Web and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing. An SQL injection vulnerability exists in the CHaD.asmx web service functionality of eDNA Enterprise Data Historian 3.0.1.2/7.5.4989.33053. Specially crafted SOAP web requests can cause SQL injections resulting in data compromise. Parameter InstanceName in CHaD.asmx is vulnerable to unauthenticated SQL injection attacks.
The weakness was released 09/10/2020 by Yuri Kramarz with Cisco Talos as ICSA-20-254-01 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at us-cert.cisa.gov. The public release was coordinated with AVEVA. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2020-13501. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
Upgrading to version 2019 SP1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
