Oracle JDeveloper 9.0.4, 9.0.5, and 10.1.2 stores cleartext passwords in (1) IDEConnections.xml, (2) XSQLConfig.xml and (3) settings.xml, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information.
The bug was discovered 07/12/2005. The weakness was presented 07/13/2005 by Alexander Kornbrust with Oracle (Website). The advisory is available at oracle.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2005-2292 since 07/17/2005. The attack can only be done within the local network. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
