A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in HP HP-UX 10.20 (Operating System). This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file registrar. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. Impacted is confidentiality, and integrity. The summary by CVE is:
registrar in the HP resource monitor service allows local users to read and modify arbitrary files by renaming the original registrar.log log file and creating a symbolic link to the target file, to which registrar appends log information and sets the permissions to be world readable.
