A vulnerability classified as critical was found in DCscripts DCForum up to 6.0 (Forum Software). This vulnerability affects an unknown functionality of the file upload_file.pl. The manipulation of the argument az with the input value upload_file leads to a privileges management vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. upload_file.pl in DCForum 2000 1.0 allows remote attackers to upload arbitrary files without authentication by setting the az parameter to upload_file.
The weakness was presented 07/02/2001 by qDefense (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2001-0437. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
