A vulnerability has been found in Compaq Insight Manager XE up to 2.1b and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component SNMP/DMI Handler. Buffer overflow in Compaq Insight Manager XE 2.1b and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via (1) SNMP and (2) DMI.
The weakness was presented 12/06/2001 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2001-0840. The exploitation appears to be easy.
