A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in PostNuke 0.62/0.63/0.64 (Content Management System). Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file user.php. The manipulation of the argument uname with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in user.php in PostNuke 0.64 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the uname parameter.

The bug was discovered 12/03/2001. The weakness was published 12/31/2001 with isec (Website). The advisory is shared for download at online.securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2001-1521 since 07/14/2005. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
