A vulnerability has been found in Adobe PhotoDeluxe 3.0/3.1/4.0 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Applet Handler. The Connectables feature in Adobe PhotoDeluxe 3.1 prepends the Adobe directory to the CLASSPATH environment variable, which allows applets to run with higher privileges and remote attackers to gain privileges via an HTML e-mail message or a web page.
The weakness was disclosed 02/09/2002 by Hiromitsu Takagi as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-1601 since 03/20/2005. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
