A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Entourage, Powerpoint and Excel 5.1 on Mac (Web Browser). It has been classified as critical. Internet Explorer 5.1 for Macintosh allows remote attackers to bypass security checks and invoke local AppleScripts within a specific HTML element, aka the "Local Applescript Invocation" vulnerability.
The bug was discovered 01/22/2002. The weakness was presented 01/22/2002 with Microsoft as MS02-019 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2002-0153. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
