A vulnerability was found in Oracle Database (Database Software) (version now known). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in test.jsp in Oracle Reports Server 10g (9.0.4.3.3) allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) desname or (2) repprod parameter.
The bug was discovered 10/20/2005. The weakness was released 10/18/2005 by Alexander Kornbrust with Oracle (Website). The advisory is available at oracle.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-0873 since 03/26/2005. Access to the local network is required for this attack to succeed. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
