A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Macromedia Flash Player 5.0 (Multimedia Player Software). This vulnerability affects the function save of the component SWF File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-269. Standalone Macromedia Flash Player 5.0 allows remote attackers to save arbitrary files and programs via a .SWF file containing the undocumented "save" FSCommand.
The weakness was disclosed 08/12/2002 with Macromedia (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-0476. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
