A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Content Management Server 2001. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function mdac of the component User Authentication. Buffer overflow in a system function that performs user authentication for Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2001 allows attackers to execute code in the Local System context by authenticating to a web page that calls the function, aka "Unchecked Buffer in MDAC Function Could Enable SQL Server Compromise."

The bug was discovered 04/01/2002. The weakness was published 08/07/2002 by Joao Gouveia as MS02-041 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com.
