A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Sambar Server 5.1 (File Transfer Software). This issue affects an unknown part of the component URL Handler. The manipulation with the input value <url>%20%00 leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. Impacted is confidentiality, and availability. Sambar web server before 5.2 beta 1 allows remote attackers to obtain source code of server-side scripts, or cause a denial of service (resource exhaustion) via DOS devices, using a URL that ends with a space and a null character.

The bug was discovered 04/03/2002. The weakness was presented 04/17/2002 by Peter Gründl (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at sambar.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2002-0737. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
