The Administration console for Abyss Web Server 1.0.3 before Patch 2 allows remote attackers to gain privileges and modify server configuration via direct requests to CHL files such as (1) srvstatus.chl, (2) consport.chl, (3) general.chl, (4) srvparam.chl, and (5) advanced.chl.
The bug was discovered 08/22/2002. The weakness was disclosed 10/04/2002 by Auriemma Luigi as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2002-1080. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
