A vulnerability was found in Cisco IP Phone 7900 (IP Phone Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown part of the component SNMP Accounts. Cisco IP Phone (VoIP) 7920 1.0(8) contains certain hard-coded ("fixed") public and private SNMP community strings that cannot be changed, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information.
The weakness was disclosed 11/17/2005 by Shawn Merdinger with Cisco (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at cisco.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-3803 since 11/24/2005. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
