A vulnerability was found in Oracle Application Server (Application Server Software) (affected version unknown). It has been rated as critical. Oracle 9i Application Server (9iAS) installs multiple sample pages that allow remote attackers to obtain environment variables and other sensitive information via (1) info.jsp, (2) printenv, (3) echo, or (4) echo2.
The weakness was released 12/31/2002 by David Litchfield as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2002-1632 since 03/26/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
By approaching the search of inurl:info.jsp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 57619 (Oracle Application Server Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Web Servers. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86327 (Oracle 9i Application Server Sample Pages Anonymous Access Vulnerability).
