A vulnerability has been found in ASPjar Guestbook 1.0 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown part. The manipulation of the argument web site with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting vulnerability (XSS) in ASPjar Guestbook 1.00 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary script as other users via the "web site" parameter in a guestbook message.
The bug was discovered 05/04/2002. The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2002 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at online.securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-1729 since 06/21/2005. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
