The default installation of Apache Tomcat 4.0 through 4.1 and 3.0 through 3.3.1 allows remote attackers to obtain the installation path and other sensitive system information via the (1) SnoopServlet or (2) TroubleShooter example servlets.
The weakness was presented 12/31/2002 by Security Team (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-2006 since 07/14/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
