Microsoft SQL Server 7, 2000, and MSDE allows local users to gain privileges by hijacking a named pipe during the authentication of another user, aka the "Named Pipe Hijacking" vulnerability.

The bug was discovered 07/03/2003. The weakness was presented 07/24/2003 by Andreas Junstream with @stake as MS03-031 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2003-0230 since 04/30/2003. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
