A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in PlanetDNS PlanetWeb 1.14. This affects some unknown processing of the component HTTP GET Request Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. Buffer overflow in PlanetDNS PlanetWeb 1.14 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via (1) an HTTP GET request with a long URL or (2) a request with a long method name.
The bug was discovered 09/14/2002. The weakness was released 04/02/2003 by Security Team (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at iss.net. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2002-1489. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
