A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Cacti up to 0.6.8 (Log Management Software). This issue affects an unknown part of the file config.php. Cacti before 0.6.8 stores a MySQL username and password in plaintext in config.php, which has world-readable permissions, which allows local users modify databases as the Cacti user and possibly gain privileges.
The weakness was disclosed 04/22/2003 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2002-1479. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
